Wildflowers in Winkworth Arboretum

Winkworth Arboretum contains over a hundred species of wild flowers. Many of these form very showy displays, such as the snowdrops in winter, the bluebells and foxgloves in spring, and the Oxeye daisies, Rosebay Willowherb and Knapweed in the meadow in summer.

Some of these wildflowers are uncommon, such as Narrow-leaved Bitter-Cress, Large Bitter-cress, Small Balsam, and white variants of Self-Heal and Hemp-Nettle. Members of the orchid family include the Common Spotted-Orchid, Broad-leaved Helleborine, and an unusual orchid cross with a 9-inch long flower spike.
