The Autumn Crocus is similar to the Spring Crocus, except that the flowers appear in autumn, while the leaves still appear in spring.
It may be confused with Meadow Saffron, which also flowers in autumn with leaves in spring. Even more confusingly, Meadow Saffron is sometimes called Autumn Crocus. Meadow Saffron has pinker flowers with 6 stamens, while Autumn Crocus has lilac or purple flowers with 3 stamens.
