Bogbean (or Buckbean) is an aquatic perennial of shallow lakes, ponds and tarns, being more common in the north of Britain. The trifoliate leaves, which look similar to those of a broad bean, are held erect above the water. The white (or pink) flowers have 5 petals in a star shape, which are fringed with stout white hairs.
