Orange Balsam is a locally frequent plant of rivers and ponds, often growing alongside
Himalayan Balsam.
Like the other balsams, it spreads its seed via explosive capsules.
This species has orange petals with small red spots,
with the spur at the back of the flower suddenly narrowing and bending into a hook.
It is similar to Touch-me-not Balsam
(Impatiens noli-tangere), which has yellow flowers with red-brown spots.
