| English Stonecrop | Stonecrop family |
| Sedum anglicum | Crassulaceae |
English Stonecrop is a succulent with fleshy leaves which grows in dry places such as shingle,
sand, and cliffs. It has white flowers, although these are often tinged with pink;
similarly the leaves are often red in colour.
It is believed that the red pigment acts as a sunscreen, filtering the harmful rays of the sun.
It may be confused with White Stonecrop,
but the latter has flowerheads.
