| Annual Mercury | Spurge family |
| Mercurialis annua | Euphorbiaceae |
Annual Mercury grows in waste ground and neglected gardens. Although it is similar in form to Dog's Mercury, it is an annual plant, and has pale green nettle-shaped leaves. Like Dog's Mercury, it is dioecious, with tiny yellow male flowers and green female flowers on separate plants. The whole plant is poisonous, hence the "mercury" part of its name.
