| Yellow loosestrife | Primrose family |
| Lysimachia vulgaris | Primulaceae |
Yellow Loosestrife is a locally common flower of marshes and wet woods.
It is similar to Dotted Loosestrife, but is taller
and has flowers in looser clusters.
The name "Loosestrife" comes from a supposed calming effect that the plant has on livestock.
Despite the similarity in name and habitat, Yellow Loosestrife is not related to
Purple Loosestrife.
