| Dwarf Gorse |
Pea family |
| Ulex minor |
Leguminosae (Fabaceae) |
Dwarf Gorse is similar to the standard Gorse, but it is smaller,
growing only up to 1 metre in height
(see comparison picture).
The flowers are a deeper yellow, and the calyx and bracteoles
at the base of the flower are very short.
The spines are smaller and less deeply-furrowed.
Dwarf Gorse flowers in late summer once standard Gorse has finished, thus giving a continuous
run of Gorse flowers throughout the year.
