| Cow-wheat | Figwort family |
| Melampyrum pratense | Scrophulariaceae |
Common Cow-wheat is a slender plant of dry woods, scrub and grasslands. The flowers are variable in colour: they are mostly yellow or yellowish-white, but some variants may have tinges of orange or pink. Like many other plants in the Figwort family, it is semi-parasitic, taking water and minerals from the roots of other plants.
