Amphibious Bistort can form extensive patches of pink flowers in damp areas.
It has two forms:
the more common aquatic form grows in ponds, ditches and bogs, with hairless leaves
which float on the surface of the water.
The land form grows in damp grassland, and has hairy leaves.
The pictures below show the aquatic form, although its surrounding bog had mostly dried out during the summer.
