Sea Aster grows in saltmarshes and around the coastlines of Britain.
The flower occurs in two forms: usually it has purple ray florets, but plants nearer the water
may only have the yellow disc florets.
This plant was grown in gardens before the introduction of
Michaelmas Daisy, a similar plant that has now also
established itself in the wild.
