Sea Aster Daisy family
Aster tripolium Asteraceae (Compositae)

Sea Aster grows in saltmarshes and around the coastlines of Britain. The flower occurs in two forms: usually it has purple ray florets, but plants nearer the water may only have the yellow disc florets.
This plant was grown in gardens before the introduction of Michaelmas Daisy, a similar plant that has now also established itself in the wild.
