Perennial erect herb, up to 100 cm tall
Leaves rounded, stalked, lobed leaflets
Flowers: 30-50mm long, 5 petals with distinctive long spurs bearing nectaries. Stamens not or hardly protruding beyond petals. Flowers are blue, blue-purple, white or pink.
Flowering time: May-July
Habitat: Damp open woods, scrub or fens
Distribution: Local throughout Britain
