| Sheep's-bit |
Bellflower family |
| Jasione montana |
Campanulaceae |
Sheep's-bit grows on cliffs, heaths and dunes, mainly in the South and West of England.
It is a member of the bellflower family, although it looks more like a scabious,
and is easily confused with
Devil's-bit Scabious. The main difference is that the flowers of Sheep's-bit have long thin lobes
and its stamens do not protrude above the petals, whereas the flowers of the Devil's-bit Scabious
have 4 shorter lobes and stamens which protrude well above the petals.
