Orpington Nomads v Rowledge on Sunday 8th August at Orpington

Rowledge 122/9 off 45 overs
Orpington 128/5 off 23.2 overs

Orpington won the toss and put Rowledge in to bat. Rowledge openers Ann Mortimer and Shareen Gradwell got off to a solid start, before a mix-up left them both at the same end of the pitch, with Ann being run out as a result. Scoring was slow initially, especially against Orpington bowler Sue Kitchen, who only conceded 3 runs from 6 overs. Once the opening bowlers were seen off, Rachel Hillman and Katie Forward compiled a third wicket stand of 68 in 20 overs, laying the basis for a decent total. Unfortunately, Katie Forward was then bowled, and Annie Smith was run out without facing a ball, and although Maggie Finney and Pauline Baker dug in for a while, several more Rowledge wickets fell without adding significantly to the score.

In reply, Rowledge got off to a great start when Shareen Gradwell bowled one of the Orpington openers in the first over, followed by 2 wickets in 2 balls in her 5th over, to leave Orpington reeling at 26/5 in the 11th over. Just when Rowledge were scenting victory, the game changed completely as Bev Nicholson clouted the bowling, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes in an unbeaten innings of 75 in just 12 overs. This unbroken century partnership won the game for Orpington in only half the required overs.

Rowledge points: 2.7 batting points, 2.5 bowling points
