Guildford 78/7 (all out) off 29.1 overs
Rowledge 81/3 off 20.3 overs
Rowledge Ladies continued their recent good form with an emphatic win over local rivals Guildford by 7 wickets. Following the recent close encounter between these teams, where Rowledge had won with just three balls to spare, Rowledge had assembled their strongest possible team for the rematch, only to find that Guildford were fielding a weakened team with only eight players.
Rowledge won the toss and put Guildford in to bat. Rowledge struck in the second over, with former Rowledge player Liz Jurczenko being run out, and then the next player being bowled immediately by Katy Robinson for a duck, leaving Guildford reeling at 9/2. The Rowledge opening bowlers continued to exert their grip, and in the seventh over, Felicity Bennett was caught behind by Rowledge's new 12-year-old wicketkeeper Alice Clempson, who kept extremely tidily in only her second match for the senior side. Another wicket also fell in the same over to Laura Winstone, leaving Guildford in even greater trouble at 19/4. Guildford captain Lesley Lawrence helped to build a fifth wicket stand of 43 in 16 overs, although in an attempt to carry the team all by herself, was nearly out on several occasions. Eventually, in the 23rd over, Emily Marchant broke the stand by bowling Lesley. Shortly after this, Rowledge brought back their opening bowlers who each took another wicket to finish off the Guildford innings for only 78, with Laura Winstone finishing with figures of 3/11 off 7 overs.
In their reply, Rowledge had few problems in knocking off the runs. Although both openers were out cheaply, Laura Winstone scored a rapid 22, and then Katy Robinson (21 not out) and Katie Forward (15 not out) compiled an unbroken stand of 34 in only 6 overs to give Rowledge an easy victory having used only half of their allotted overs.
