Rowledge came agonisingly close to victory but were thwarted by the opposition's tail-enders.

Rowledge batted first and were immediately struggling against the accurate bowling of Cathy Mowat and Gerina de Necker, and soon found themselves in trouble at 8/3 after the first 8 overs. After the first bowling change, Rowledge made slightly more headway, with the fourth wicket falling in the 12th over with the score at 23. There was then a vital fifth wicket stand of 43 between Katie Forward (56) and Pauline Baker (17), with Katie batting really well and getting on top of the Gunnersbury bowling, leading to a respectable score of 93 off 30 overs. Unfortunately, once this stand was broken, the remaining Rowledge batters struggled to score, particularly against the devastatingly accurate Cathy Mowat, who finished with the impressive figures of 3 wickets for 4 runs from her 8 overs.

Rowledge thought that their score of 113 was defendable in the difficult windy conditions on an uneven pitch, and took heart from early Gunnersbury wickets, with the first 4 wickets falling for 47 runs. A fifth wicket stand of 43 between Melinda Bennett (25) and Kinnari Naik (17) appeared to put Gunnersbury well on the way to victory, but a couple of wickets each from Sophie Cooper and Katie Robinson completely changed things around, leaving Gunnersbury teetering on 106/9. Just when Rowledge scented an unlikely win, Gunnersbury tail-ender Suzi James smashed a couple of fours to give the home side victory by a single wicket.
