Twickenham 263/3 off 45 overs
Rowledge 154/8 off 45 overs
Rowledge won the toss and put Twickenham in to bat on a dicey-looking Binsted pitch. Rowledge struck immediately when Katy Robinson induced Marina Steel to play on in the first over. Twickenham then dug in against lively bowling from Katy Robinson and Laura Omar, the bowlers being assisted by the unpredictable pitch. Having survived the first 10 overs, Twickenham batters Katharine Dickens and Ann Baker began to bat with more confidence, but both were out shortly afterwards in the same manner, being caught by Sophie Cooper off the bowling of Sophie Davies, leaving Twickenham at 84/3. That was to be the last success for the Rowledge bowlers, as Denise Orford and Charlotte Gallagher piled on the runs in an unbroken 4th wicket stand of 179 in 27 overs. Denise Orford reached her century, finishing on 105 not out, despite having to use a runner for almost the whole of her innings, while Charlotte Gallagher finished unbeaten on 67.
In reply, Rowledge were never likely to match the required run rate of nearly 6 an over.
Laura Omar (Winstone) got the innings off to a brisk start with an innings of 38, but once she was
caught in the deep, the run rate slowed to 3 per over. Rachel Hillman made a patient 38,
and Angharad Nicholas-Podger was 20 not out at the close of the innings, and although Rowledge
avoided being bowled out, they were more than a hundred runs short of the required total.
Rowledge points: 3.4 batting points, 1.5 bowling points
