Dukesmead v Rowledge on Sunday 11th July at Old Actonians (Ealing)

Rowledge 89/9 (all out) off 37.4 overs
Dukesmead 91/3 off 19.5 overs

Rowledge were put in to bat and got off to the worst possible start when on the second ball of the match, the ball leapt up, and captain Katy Robinson edged it to the wicketkeeper. The Rowledge batters dug in, but found scoring almost impossible against the Dukesmead bowling. Only Sophie Cooper (20) managed to score at a reasonable rate. Unlike the previous match against the same opponents, Rowledge were bowled out with 7 overs remaining. Rowledge were grateful for the large number of wide balls: Extras made up half of their total score.

In the third over of the reply, Sophie Davies induced what seemed like an edge from the Dukesmead opener which was caught by wicketkeeper Jackie Rice. The Rowledge players all appealed but the umpire didn't give it out, but the Dukesmead player "walked", a gesture much appreciated by Rowledge. Apart from this, the experienced Dukesmead players found scoring straightforward, even though the Rowledge bowling was good, and reached their target in under 20 overs.

Rowledge points: 2.4 batting points, 1.5 bowling points
